KAPTAGAT, Kenya — Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge has unveiled his 2026 racing calendar, confirming he will target the Berlin Marathon in September as his primary competitive goal, with a potential world record attempt at the Chicago Marathon in October.

Kipchoge, 41, who holds the marathon world record of 2:00:35 set in Berlin in 2022, confirmed that he has been in consistent training at his Kaptagat base and feels "the body is still responding well" following a period of recovery from injury in late 2025.

"Berlin has always been my favourite race. The course, the atmosphere, the history — it is the perfect stage for what we are trying to achieve. I believe the record can still go lower."

The announcement has been met with excitement globally, with Athletics Kenya president Paul Tergat saying the country is "proud and inspired" by Kipchoge's continued pursuit of excellence at an age when most elite marathoners have retired.
