In a statement shared on Tuesday, August 4, Maina claimed that Kinyua was seized by unknown men and taken to an undisclosed location.
"DCP Party Blogger, Justin Kinyua has been abducted by hooded gunmen and is being driven to an unknown destination as we speak," she wrote.
Njeri Maina described the alleged incident as an act of political intimidation, saying it reflects a growing trend of attempts to silence individuals based on their political affiliations. She maintained that such actions would not deter those advocating for constitutional rights.
"The era of political intimidations is here with us, but we shall not relent," she said.
She further stated that the Constitution guarantees every Kenyan the right to freedom of expression and political association, adding that young people should be allowed to exercise those rights without fear.
"We shall stand by the Constitution and the young people of this great nation, whose right to free speech and political affiliation is protected by the Constitution," Maina added.
The Kirinyaga Woman Representative also said she is working with Senator Kamau Murango and Hon. Mathenge to establish Kinyua's whereabouts and promised to provide updates as more information becomes available.
"Sen. Kamau Murango, Hon. Mathenge and I are following up on it and shall update on the developments," she said.
As of the time of publication, the alleged abduction had not been independently verified, and there has been no official statement from the police or other security agencies regarding the claims.
