KUCCPS Releases 2025 KCSE University and TVET Placement Results

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, confirmed that 293,869 candidates had been allocated spaces in universities, colleges and technical institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The latest figures represent a major rise in the number of students placed compared to previous years, when annual placements averaged about 70,000 learners.

According to the CS, 202,133 students earned admission to degree programmes in universities, while 28,246 others were placed at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

Additional placements included 500 students joining Diploma in Law (Paralegal) programmes, 765 admitted to Kenya Utalii College, and 875 assigned to secondary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).

This year’s placement also marked the first time Kenya Utalii College students were admitted through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), widening the range of institutions available through the system.

CS Ogamba noted that an increasing number of students were embracing technical training, with 8,915 candidates who qualified for degree programmes choosing to pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses instead.

Students who wish to change their allocated institutions will have a longer period to submit transfer requests after the government extended the inter-institution transfer window.

The transfer period has been increased from two weeks to one month, allowing applicants additional time to review their placements and make necessary adjustments.

Candidates can access their placement information by logging into their KUCCPS accounts, where they will find details of their assigned institution and the course they will undertake.

Universities and colleges have also been directed to begin preparing admission letters and joining instructions to facilitate a smooth reporting process for successful applicants.

Following the completion of the placement exercise, the Higher Education Financing portal has been opened to allow first-time applicants to apply for government scholarships and loans.

The Ministry of Education reported that 980,535 candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination qualified to apply for placement, while 270,508 attained the minimum C+ grade required for direct admission into degree programmes.

The placement announcement now clears the way for thousands of learners to begin their transition into higher education and technical training institutions across the country.
